For Affiliate Marketing Beginners- Get More Customer Traffic by Purchasing a Domain Name of Your Own
54Build your sales, build your presence
Affiliate marketing beginners often neglect a simple strategy to increase their online presence. By buying a domain name of your very own, you can put it to a couple of very good and profitable uses which will serve you for years to come.
Here's what you do:
1. The right domain name
Whatever web host you use (there are dozens of good ones), they will have a search box on their home page to help you find available domain names.
Whatever your niche, start playing around with good keywords, and see what domain names are available. Ideally, you are looking for the ".com" version of the domain name.
Why? Simple: It's what people expect to see when doing business with someone.
2. Your purchase
Having found your ideal domain name, buy it, and go for the two-year option if you think you are going to be in business for a while.
Many, many people have bought domain names on short, one-year contracts. At renewal time, they forget to renew, and... their hard work for the last year vanishes into the ether!
Don't let that happen to you.
3. Do a simple re-direct.
Whatever your web host, there will be some sort of domain name management feature. This is where you do things like open up email accounts for your domain name, or change your DNS settings.
Here, you should be able to set up a re-direct to any affiliate sales page you choose, provided your domain name is relevant, of course.
This is a very handy thing to have done. Article directories and some other Web 2.0 sites frown on affiliate links. Having an actual domain name gets around that problem, and makes you look a lot more professional to boot.
4. What to do with your re-direct
Use it wherever possible. Article directories, for one, and anywhere you set up a profile for yourself, such as a forum.
Wherever your affiliate link would look chunky and clunky, use your domain name and garner a little bit of presence for yourself.
5. Got your own product?
If and when you have your own niche product to promote, you can now re-purpose your domain name.
All you do is change the re-direct to a new sales page. Voila! Wherever your domain name has appeared, be they in articles, blog posts, or forum profiles, it will now point to your own product sales page.
